                                                      CANINE HYDROTHERAPY

The benefits from swimming as an exercise are well-known.
But what is less well known is the benefit of warm water stimulating
all the nerve endings and opening blood vessels all over the body, improving
               the circulation and toning muscles.
The generally cold UK climate makes swimming in rivers and lakes
less beneficial because the cold water reduces blood circulation.       .
In such conditions your dog faces various hazards including,
injury from slipping on muddy banks, poisonous algae, leptospirosis etc.
The answer is swimming in warm specially clean water
in a controlled environment as provided by our hydrotherapy pool.

As well as providing benefits for dogs with injuries
or other physical problems, we can help improve muscle definition
in show dogs and increase stamina and fitness in agility dogs.
If your dog is overweight, hydrotherapy/swimming can reduce unwanted fat
without damaging your dog's joints, as might be the case
                              with running on hard surfaces.
Hydrotherapy can be useful in many conditions as recommended/advised
by your dog's veterinary surgeon, for example.

                              After.........orthopaedic surgery
                                              cruciate ligament repair
                                              strains and sprains
                                              caesarians and spaying
                                              spinal injuries

                               Hydrotherapy can be beneficial for:-

                                              Hip and elbow dysplasia
                                              Stiffness in old age
                                              obesity
                                              fitness and stamina
                                              muscle definition

                              Hydrotherapy works by:-

                               Improving and restoring muscle strength

Increasing the range of movement in affected joints

                               Reducing swelling, pain and stiffness

Improving circulation and feeling of well-being

Providing warmth and pressure of water
to stimulate nerve endings and opens up blood vessels

Improving the capacity of heart and lungs (cardio vascular)

Giving a warm, comforting sensation created by warm water
to relax muscles, reducing pain and spasm

We strongly recommend that you bring your dog for a routine swim,
                              the younger the better...
vaccinated puppies benefit from 'swimming lessons'
and should your dog need hydrotherapy in the future your dog will already
                              be  used to pool swimming.

We only swim dogs that a veterinary surgeon has verified is fit enough
and a suitable candidate for, hydrotherapy.
We may need to contact your veterinary surgeon
about the course of treatment and its expected outcome.
We only swim vaccinated dogs and we require to see a current
vaccination record (along with the registration form).

We will use a feedback report form when necessary
to let your veterinary surgeon know how the treatment is progressing.
